From 10th to 14th July 2023 a specialized hybrid Training for Ukrainian Trainers seminar was held in Brussels.

The interpretation course leaders shared their experience in setting-up Conference Interpretation courses, including their specific nature, main strategies for their planning, basic requirements for candidates, methods and techniques of teaching. Furthermore, sessions of the seminar were dedicated to different learning stages of conference interpreting training, first steps in simultaneous interpreting, general principles of note-taking for consecutive interpreting etc. EU trainers presented different speech-making and online resources, such as the EU Knowledge Centre on Interpretation.

Onsite Ukrainian participants had an opportunity to visit the building of the European Commission (press room-Berlaymont building) and the Council of Ministers of the EU, in particular the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations and DG Interpretation.

Our trainers Svitlana Nohovska, Svitlana Merkulova and Elina Paliichuk enjoyed the sessions, where they had an opportunity not only to learn but to share their ideas with EU trainers. It was a great benefit that the content and interaction of the dedicated sessions afforded them an insight into EU work and EU standards for the training of conference interpreters.
